These are just a few photos from the Wild Coast.  One of your compulsory pieces of equipment is a camera.

Andre Erasmus

Andre and Steve won the race, breaking the previous record by 7 hours !!!!

Approaching Umgazi River

Across the green meadows, through the thorn bush and across the Umgazi, the first river crossing of many

Dwesa

Chel at Dwesa beach and an early morning start with wildebeest still sleeping on the sand

Kei River ferry

This is how we cross this very wide and dangerous river.

Peter Samuel

Race doctor and crew member

Mpande

Over another hill and down to Mpande, water at the houses on the other side

Xora River

This is best crossed at high or low tide or go upstream and cross the lagoon. Very powerful pull

Mthakhatya River

This beautiful river can be crossed at the mouth, taking into account the tide or upstream at the mangrove swamps

Eugene Martin

Eugene is as strong as a Lion and never loses his cool

Hole in the Wall Village

Follow the beach or take the road to a Spaza shop which sells 1 litre cold drinks which are freezing cold and better priced than in town

Jacaranda

Patrick tells me that this ship ran aground whilst the crew were having one hell of a party

Kim van Kets

"Bullet Proof"

Little Hole in the Wall

On the path from Coffee Bay, smaller fish maybe or smaller maiden

Haven beaches

Running towards the Haven, lovely flat beaches

Nelius and Nelmarie Rall

Veterinarians from Coligny, better know to us as the twins as they always dressed the same

Path down to Sugar Loaf

Through the thick coastal forest down the steep hill to the sea which means there is another steep hill to climb

Umgazi Headlands

The path contours along the top of the coastal cliffs giving the most stunning views over the sea and also where you have to go

Sugar Loaf

Peter de Haan and Dion Joubert check out their map to get their bearing

Sean Delport

Sean walked the whole way but was not far behind the runners because of his excellent navigation, the runners making errors and paying for it by going further than necessary

Siegfried Milbert

Well done Siegfried, third try and third time lucky

Simon Cooke

Silent and willing, always looking for a challenge. He was satisfied this time

Yellow Sands River

Steve and Andre exit the river at speed, no sharks

Steve Black

Winner with Andre, Steve has been there and done that with most challenges. Visit Steve at Khotso Trails and he will show you some fun things to do

Tallies Sadler

Unpredictable Tallies decided to stop short one day at Bulungulu back packers, he says he was tired, we think it was the Scandinavian girls

Mthakhatya

Another way to cross this river, go to the mangroves and swim 200m through the freezing water

To Umgazana

had to put this one on as well, it is a stunning section, running is hardly noticable, you just fly along

Pullens Bay

At high tide the trail is covered and you have to wait for a chance to dash across the rocks and clamber up the other side

Nahoon beach

Some of the Wild Coast Runners at the finish
