This was the start of our adventure, note the shiny bikes, they didn't look the same at the end. |

Chel with our bikes on the way up the switch backs, they are steep and covered with slippery gravel. Makes for hard going. |

No one mentions how long and steep the road is to the top of Otto du Plessis Pass, perhaps because the down hill is so scary. |

Top of the Ladder. |

Chel at the start of the 12k road from the top of the Ladder to Boschluiskloof road. This road quickly deteriorated with lots of rocks and fynbos, obviously never used anymore. |

Mrs. Fourie's farm. |

The roads are seldom used and have turned into sandy riverbeds. Not much else to do except push and it is hard work, this lasted about 10k. |

Anysberg Nature Reserve. |
|
There are a few abandoned houses along the way, farms taken over by Anysberg. We stopped here to get out of the scorching sun and have lunch. We first checked to make sure there were no snakes. |

Ouberg Pass. |
|
I had quite a few fast downhill rides and was looking forward to this one. However, it was so steep and slippery I was only able to go down slowly until I reached the lower slopes which were not as steep. |

Escom service road. |
|
These roads go straight up or down, following the power lines. They are so rough and full of rocks that riding is imposiible for ordinary people. |
